KENDALL FARR | ASK KENDALL
Q:
I'm intrigued by the return of the kitten heel but I feel unsure about how to wear them. They look strange with the skirts and pants that work so well with my ballet flats or 3" heels.
A:
There are two tried and true looks for kitten heels that I think get the proportion just right.
First option: a long full mid-calf skirt ( like a circle skirt). This length reveals a trim part of the leg for most and the overall effect is flattering.
Second option: I love kitten heels with ankle cropped pants. Crops -either with a pleated front and higher waist or a straight flat front style (think chinos, tuxedo pants) - with a kitten heel pump look dressed but not fussy.

Unless a girl has the legs of a greyhound, a lower heel like the kitten is not as flattering as the leg-lengthening illlusion one gets from a higher heel. So the best formula is showing less leg with more focus on the shoe and the cute heel.
