Q:
I am curvy Type B in your books. I know bootcuts work for me but I think they look frumpy unless I wear heels. Any jeans cut you can recommend for hips and full bottom?
A:
I know what you mean about a boot cut with flats. I also like a cigarette style in a dark wash. It's a truly stovepipe - not skinny- cut that is pretty universally flattering for curves. There is a bit more room through the thighs so the cut skims the body. I've had success with J Brand Classic Cigarette Leg for clients ( and myself). It's a cut that tapers slightly so you can hem them at your ankle and wear them with any heel height.TIP: For the best fit go for a mid-rise. The button should fasten an inch below your navel for an elongated look.
Keep the look lean with denim that has less than 5 percent lycra or they can look baggy by mid-day.
