Q:
I'm looking for comfortable sandals that look nice with skirts and dresses. No heel. Key word is comfort. Any line that you would recommend?
A:
I am assuming that shoes with some kind of built- in insole support are preferable for you. So here are some suggestions:
Cole Hahn Air include many good looking styles from ballet flats and moccassins to evening flats with built-in Nike cushioning.
Anthropology on-line carries styles by Chie Mihara a line known for a kind of artsy look with innersole padding.
Gentle Souls is another brand known for current look and comfort.
French Sole makes nicley padded ballet flats - a the 'sloop' style is nice.
Camper, Bella Vita and Clark's are other resources.
DKNY shoes have built in insolia innersoles.

Q:
I've just picked up a pair of fabulous oxfords with a 1 1/2" heel. I know I can wear them with jeans and trousers, but can I wear them with opaque tights and skirts for a casual fall look?
A:
Your shoes sound great. Oxfords are always a cool, classic (and comfortable) riff on menswear. And while I see les jeune filles running all over NYC in flat oxfords worn with very short skirts and bare legs - this looks adorable on the under 25 set only. I prefer the sophistication of oxfords worn with stovepipe-shaped, ankle-cropped trousers (worn with no socks). The look is youthful and chic. I am not a fan of oxfords and tights worn with wool skirts- too many school uniform connotations for grown-up ladies.
